I've seen people with them on their wrists, if you really want it there you can get it

It's not a bad place at all! It has similar risks to getting tattooed on other parts of the body. If the tattoo artist is inexperienced, there may be complications but that's with any tattoo!! I have a few. And I have a small one on my wrist.

It does hurt like hell. More than any other tat I've gotten. Because of the concentration of bone in the area and the sensitivity of the skin. But, like everything else, it heals. And as to the 'workplace issue' I wear a watch with a thick band so it's not visible at the workplace.

Be smart about it. Get an experienced artist.

I have a tattoo that goes all the way around my left wrist... Why do you think that it's a bad idea to get one there? That is my favorite tattoo.. And it did not hurt in anyway what so ever!!! I have tattoos other places also, like on my lower and upper back and on my spine and the wrist was the least pain full one... It didn't feel like much of anything kinda tickled... Also for the brains that are saying it could bust threw a vain.... UM that's not possible and i assure you that nothing will go threw your veins if you go and get a tattoo... The needles are very small and there are numerous needles used in the gun not just one, and there set so that they can only go threw so many layers of skin... The part that holds the needles in place is to large to go allow the needles to go through too many layers of skin... If you want a tattoo there get one there.... The wrist tattoo's are hidden very easy, with a watch or bracelet...

The wrist is not a bad place to get a tattoo.
there are some things you should consider though...
1. its more painful
2. you can't hide it
3. you will normal have to go in for a touch up at least once because of the everyday use of you wrist your bound to lose color.
4. think of the everyday impact it will have IE if I were to get a real job I would have to wear along sleeve shirt 365days ayr. if you change your mind in 5yrs its not going to be easy to change.or remove.
but after weighing all these things you still want it go for it. you don't live for ever the pains not that bad and only last while the needles in your flesh.

i didnt know it was? I have one there and I have to say its the least painful tattoo ive had done!yes there are veins but there are veins everywhere inder your skin so that would mean you couldn't get a tattoo anywhere if thie were true. i think the tattooist knows what they are doing, and they only go down a few layers of the skin. As for jobs I have had no probs getting a job since having mine done, a watch or bracelet is easy to cover up, and bearing in mind alot of offices, shops etc you get the choice of long or short tops but it you can cover them, even for weddings or parties if you want to but getting some foundation to cover tattoos and scars! Easy really!!

Sorry had to add a bit after reading all the answers I notice only myself, ash and jackie have answered pretty much the same and we all have tattoos on the wrist.

It's not a bad place to get a tattoo, no worse than anywhere else, and don't let anyone scare you with comments about pierced veins & blood poisoning (the ink is non-toxic)
However, there is one very real risk; if you get the tat done all the way around your wrist in one sitting, it could swell and cut off circulation to your hand. I'm not saying it WILL, but why risk it? Have half done, let it heal then get it finished.

I have tats on both of my wrists. The outer part of my wrists did not hurt at all. In fact I could barely feel it. The inside hurt pretty bad but it a sensitive spot. I don't work in a profession where my tats are a problem and probably won't ever work at places where they are a problem. It is almost impossible to cover wrist tats.

It is highly visible, hard to cover up and often very painful to have done. I don't think its a bad place, but definitely not practical for someone who wants to be viewed as a professional. People still have image issue about those with tattoos, and that is a concern with some people that their tattoos are kept private and invisible in the work place.

OMG!! Some of these people CANNOT be serious!! I have tats on my wrist...never had a problem...never worried about there being a problem. Ask someone in the business, don't listen to people that aren't educated on the subject or have not experienced it. I'd personally like to hear from someone that had their vain poked and ended up in the hospital from spewing mass amounts of blood. Hahahahaha!!!

I wouldn't say it's a bad place. The only reason I would think it to not be the best location is b/c the skin it a little thinner there (especially on the underside) & more sensitive + it is a very open spot that sees a lot of sunlight, etc, which would mean it might fade quicker.

I actually have a wrist tattoo...It was the first one I got....There are times you DON'T want it to be seem....That is the main reason...You simply CAN'T hide it very well....Even with long sleeves if you stretch it shows....And it hurts like heck on the underside!....But I LOVE it!!...Just at times (when I am suppose to be professional) it doesn't go over too well...
