Fellow lifters, I need help!

I am an intermediate lifter lifting for about 2 years. I very recently started doing some olympic lifting type movements like overhead squats, split jerk, front squats, power snatch etc.

Since last Friday my left knee has some swelling on both sides. The front of the knee is ok, so I don't think it is the ACL. The swelling is most predominant on the outer side of the kneecap in the arewhere the tibia starts. The pain is not unbearable but it hurts a little when I bent the knee more than 45 degrees. There is also tightness in the rear of the knee. My guess it could be strain or in worse case a small tear to the MCL and it would go away in a week

I know I should talk to a doctor. Unfortunately I've had some wrong diagnosis done in my case so I always try to get the opinion of people who have actually experienced the injury before going to a doctor (who probably has never done heavy squats in his life and hasn't personally experienced the condition

I don't do heavy squats-but I do squats & lunges every day. I have experienced the same type of discomfort before. I think it was a severe sprain/strain. Give it some time to heal. Ice, ICE, ICE as much as possible. After a few days try the squats w/ less weight than usual. If pain occurs-back off again for a while. Mine took a few weeks to resolve.
Good luck.
