I can undertsand if people disagree with other religions, but to say that it's wrong? I feel that religion is a personal thing and you bashing it, when I'm pretty sure you probably know net to nothing about me or my religion of choice, isn't going to make me convert.

It's just so frustrating because people buy into these sweeping generalizations and stereotypes that just aren't all true.

I may not agree with some of your religions views either, but I respect them and the fact that they are different. I don't go down to that level of sorta having a 'religion superiority complex'. Sometimes I just don't understand people....

facts aren't bashing? you may be one of the people i'm talking about....

i think you missed my point. if people ask me about my religion then i'm more than happy to tell them about it, but i'm not going to say that mine is superior because that's not my call to make. what i'm talking about is when people blatantly will say hurtful things about a religion when it is most likely not true or they actually know next to nothing about that religion.

i guess i just try to take the high road and agree to disagree. i'l have religious discussions with people of other faiths, but it's more of a "so why do you believe this/or that?" a compare and contrast sort of thing. not, "well that's dumb" or "only my religion can save you" etc.

and how can you say you're rebuking nonsense? you believe what you believe, they believe what they believe. who's to say what's nonsense and what's not? they may be saying that what you believe is nonsense. i know this is a losing battle, but why can't people just Love God, practice their faith, and agree to respectfully disagree with others?

First, one must understand the difference between a religion and a cult. But bashing another 'religion' is not the correct way to help your brothers and sisters. However, I do not disagree with rebuking nonsense.

Perhaps I am considered someone who bashes religion, I do not personally believe that I bash, but i do ask, I do question,. I do not have a religion which a follow, I feel religion which claims to be the 'only way' is holding an egotistical and absurd view, as I have a deep connection with Source, God, whatever you call it. And yet I follow no single doctrine at the expense of ignoring all others or more importantly, my own experience. I am not sure how people feel about that other than I have been both condemned by some to burn in hell, and thanked by others. Blessed be

Let me say i believe religion is rule made by man there are always people who will break rules there is LOVE and HATE these are what every religion preach.
There are those who share the Truth Because they have Love for there fellow man and woman and then there are those who hate and bash there are only two sides LOVE & HATE you can not embrace them both Hate consumes that which posses it LOVE heals God has a Law but he saw no one could follow it. but He still love us and wants us to having a LOVING relationship with Him Through the Love he sent to the world Jesus Christ. He didn't die on that cross for just for the Christians he died for everyone, the homosexuals the demon possessed the drunkards the liars the thiefs the murders, the child molesters the adulterators the idol worshipers the fornicators the rich the poor everyone, a person who is sick doesn't need a doctor put if your life is in sin your spirit is sick and there is a cure.

Arrogance, stupidity, the idea that God belongs to them alone.

Many silly people think of them selves as Gods chosen people. Believing in a God that plays favorites.

Silly little idea of superiority they are having isn't it Sam?

This is why I have always had more respect for Buddhist tradition than any other. They seem to be tolerant of everyone Else's beliefs. This to me sounds the most likely to be what God intended a religion to be like.

Love and blessings Don

even though as previously stated facts are facts, no one in this country has RESPECT anymore. No one can simply let others believe what they believe because someone in every situation always has to be "right". So the "bashing" is some group or single person trying to "prove" why the other group or persons views are wrong. It alls boils down to respect, and I honestly don't know if most people in this country even know what that means anymore.

While more zealous in my youth I am sure I was prone to "bash" but I saw it as charging in and trying to "STOMP SATAN" and save a soul. I am sure I have done harm to the name Christian in my time, but my motives were pure. Now I try to listen to my friends and point out, if they are open to it, flaws or inconsistency's in their faith. I am not trying to disrespect them, only save them.

If you truly believe in your faith and it says only those that...will be saved would you not try to help as many as possible see that truth so they too would avoid the abyss?

But, I understand the heart of your topic and no one should smash others faith because few will come to an others faith with disrespect and hatred. Standing firm in your faith and not backing down and living your faith is the way to reach others.

Narrow mindedness?

Herd mentality?

They believe what they are told to believe...perhaps many don't have enough brain power to allow the possibility that something 'other' could exist?

Next to nothing? You got it there...and they want to know nothing, or choose to believe what they see on TV, or small points of history, which they know nothing of?
(ever notice some will condemn, say for example...the druids, for human sacrifice - yet, retort with a question regarding the spanish inquisition, and things get really quiet?)

I strongly believe that 'God' would be quite offended at the behavior of a large quantity of his 'followers'.
(after all, apparently it is Gods' job to judge, not theirs...)

Most other faiths teach tolerance & respect - it seems...and Thank Goodness not all Christians are so, (I have wonderful conversations with my friend 'The Reverend - who, by the way, does not think I'm going to hell in a handbasket!) most fundamentalists think it's "OK" and "acceptable" to treat those who don't follow their beliefs with disrespect and intolerance.
(love thy brother & sister? um..yeah...)

The principal of most religions is this...
Be good to each other. Period.
However we choose to do this, should be of no affair to the others.
(tell them to mind their own damn business!!!)

Because their small minds have been so effectively brainwashed that any contradictory ideas scare and offend them. I feel bad for them.
I mean, they've built their existence on theri beliefs and instead of having faith and living as true to it as they can, they are able to be shaken so easily that they feel they have the right to condemn others for not believing as they do.
I'm personally glad that they have found something to believe in, as long as they keep it to themselves.

I find that when you talk to people about religion, its the men that
are the ones who can not handle other beliefs. But that goes for almost all that has to do with men. Maybe deep inside they are affraid that they might be wrong, and the more they shout that they are right, might make them feel more secure in their belief.
