So I have a couple of things here... that I just thought I had to have and wondering what I might be missing...

What were the things you had to have for Baby and the things you really used the most or came in most helpful?

Have a wonderful day!

We focused so much on the crib. We must have looked at over 50 different cribs.

In the end? The "bouncy seat" was our "must have" item. At one point, our baby was such a fussy sleeper, we let him sleep in the bouncy seat all the time.

I severely underestimated how many bibs and burp cloths I would need. Bibs can save the whole outfit, so buy or ask for more than you think you're going to need. Also, cloth diapers make the best burp cloths. The ones they sell are so tiny and babies don't have that good of aim. Plus most are a little absorbent, which will save your clothes. I also needed a lot of those little mitt things, because they do scratch their little faces alot. Also, socks that are too big for their feet at the time, work as great mitts.

As far as things to have around the house, that might depend on how your baby is. Mine loved her swing and used it to fall asleep almost every night. But she hated her bouncy seat. Well, I hope this helps and good luck to you both!

Honestly it really varies baby to baby. If your baby likes to swing or sit in a bouncy seat those may be your "most valuable items". Something for the baby to sleep in - crib, bassinett, etc is a MUST! Diapers, diaper rash cream, sleepers, wash cloths, towels, bottles (unless you are nursing) are MUSTS! Highchair, portacrib or playpen are things you can WAIT for as they won't use them for a while. A changing table is something a lot of people get & then never use. I ALWAYS change my babies on the couch because I'm not going to go upstairs just to change a diaper every time I need to change one. Had a changing table with my first baby & rarely used it. Haven't had one since & I've raised and or am raising my 9th (although I didn't give birth to them all). Good luck to you!

I think the very best thing to have around the house is powdered dishwasher detergent. Honestly. I couldn't breastfeed my daughter and it's the only thing that gets formula stains out of clothes without bleaching the color out. Make a paste with it and rub it into the spot. Also, Burt's Bees Baby Bee diaper rash cream. It clears up diaper rash or heat rash overnight. It's way better than A&D or Desitin. Good luck!

one thing people kept telling me to get that i got as a gift was a Diaper Genie, and honestly...they suck! I could never figure the dang thing out and its a waste.

One thing I did use a lot was a vibrating bouncy seat. My son loved it and it eased a lot of fussiness that he had in the beginning. Also it was a lifesaver if i needed to do the dishes or clean up the house, I would just set the chair next to me and have him chill in it with some toys (some chairs come with detatchable mobiles too, and play music). He loved sitting there watching me be a goofball and doing my thing. best of luck!

I found out that I needed more crib sheets that I had, I only had 2 but I would recommend about 5-6 they get wet, etc.
I never had a baby swing but my friends who had one seemed like it really entertained their kids a lot, kept them from whimpering all the time. Also plenty of those little terry cloth one piece outfits with the feet in them that snap.

i spent so much time shopping for baby, ithought that i was prepared and had everything i could have needed. how wrong was i? if i could go back i would have bought a lot more bibs and burp cloth, more vests and sleepsuits, and more socks because they always seem to go missing. i think my washing machine eats them or something. i wouldnt have bothered with the moses basket as my baby hated it and went straight in the crib. and i bought far too many bottles, as im breastfeeding and only need one or 2. the best item i have bought has been the baby rocking chair. she sleeps, plays and does everything in there. she loves it.

OMG, TWO WORDS

"DIAPER GENIE" - you have to have one...

After that, the things that I used the most were our carseat, our bassinet, our baby wash tub, Balmex, the nasal aspirator the hospital gives you, wipes (lots of those - we love the CVS Soft Cloth ones in scented), Halo Sleep Sacks, a couple of receiving blankets, a binky or two, and seriously, Gerber footie pajamas that zip, not snap (those snaps can be h*ll at 2AM).

The one thing that I got that I have never used was cloth diapers. They leaked and she was very rashy with thm...

Congrats on your little one!

HAD TO HAVE the perfect crib...

But the most helpful items were: bouncey seat with vibration, infant swing and pacifiers!

Also, i HAD to have Avent bottles. But ended up absolutly hating them and switched to Playtex nursers and was totally satisfied.

Congrats to you and best of luck!
