Does anyone know of a website for a night-time cruise of the Pearl River in the Guangzhou area? I wanted to find out the times and the cost, and how long the cruise takes? Just thought it would be fun to do that in the evening.

There is an assortment of boats and a range of prices. The boats leave about 8:00 and return after an hour, then leave again for another hour. Buy a ticket earlier in afternoon or evening and then return for the trip. But, generally the boats are not full so it's not so important to book in advance. On a week night you can 95% chance just walk up at departure time and buy a ticket for the boat.

Prices start at about 38 RMB (about $8 US) for just drinks and snacks on smaller boats, unless there's some special event like Chinese New Year to drive up prices. Tickets on the bigger boats are 70 - 100 RMB. The $30 tickets must be quite a feast, and I'm glad to hear it's good! The cheaper priced tickets are definitely not very good food! You have a choice of western or Chinese food. Generally speaking, I find western food in Chinese establishments to be poor imitation because it has been altered to taste more Chinese!

In good weather, and when the smog isn't too bad, the lights on the river are just beautiful and the breeze refreshing, and it's a wonderful way to spend an evening with friends. (If you don't have friends to pass the time with, then yes it could get boring IMO.) I personally prefer to purchase a ticket then go have a great meal elsewhere and return for the later (cheaper) cruise. The one hour trip starting at 9 (once up and down the river) is a nice time frame but not so long as the two hour trip (twice up and down the same river).

A nice place to go for a Cantonese seafood experience is the Cai Fu restaurant on the (east) river side of Haizu Square (very close to where you buy your tickets). The name is not posted outside but it's the large restaurant with some open veranda seating. Yes, there is every kind of seafood imaginable to order from a fish tank to be cooked while you wait. If you want more western food while you wait for your boat ride, the German restaurant called 1920 on the (west) river side of Haizu Square has very nice German food and imported beer.

PS, If you are adopting, remember that your little one may be tired, stressed, not interested in scenery, and maybe not up to a dinner cruise. The ship is not dangerous for children, but you'll have to watch them and you'll want to bring something along for children to use to entertain themselves.

The tour, to my knowledge, does not have a site. It does take about 90 minutes to do the cruise.
It is very pretty, I have been twice on both adoption trips. All hotels on the Island will be able to get you tickets They run about 30 dollars I think.
You will get a meal option also. They have a delicious dinner while you tour, then go up on the observation deck to enjoy the lights.

been on the trip, excuse me if i say it was boring, but that is my opinion. go down to the river, find a ticket booth and buy a ticket, the buildings have lots of lights on them at night, and there is food, but it would taste like you would expect food to taste like on a boat. guangzhou itself is much more interesting than a ride on a big boat
