it's back to the right color now, but do you know how to avoid this happening again or how to fix it faster than we did if it does happen again.

To avoid this happening again, be sure to stay away from colors containing ash tones. Look for colors with either a gold or red base. If your unsure on a product, make sure you ask. By purchasing the coloring products at a beauty supply, intstead of a grocery or drug store, you can get the assistance you need in order to choose the correct shade.
Good luck in the future.

It is the ash colors as everyone else is saying, but it takes typically more than one dye job to turn it green if she mixed 2 different ash products at the same time or if she used two different ash colors without waiting a sufficient amount of time the "Green" will really stand out. Follow the advice of your hairdresser. Fixing it will require professional assistance, as temporary fixes can damage the hair further.

She probably used an ash color, ash has a green base. The way to correct it is to use a color with red in the red.

It may have been the chlorine in the water. When you dye your hair swimming in a pool is not recommended because it will change the color. Perhaps your water is over-chlorinated.
