Go to dinner and/or a walk or play a board game at home. This will give you time to interact with each other. A movie is not an interraction.

Take her on a hike at a national park or state park. That will give you a lot of private time with her and it's healthy, too. The trails are popular enough that she won't feel too isolated. The falls leaves and nature are also very romantic. You don't need to be a major outdoorsman to use the trails. Most are only a 2-3 mile loop and well marked.
With my current gf, I started by giving her a tour of Boston and Harvard Square. Our second date was a walking path in a historic area of Concord, MA. We also did the mansion walk in Newport, RI which was along the coast.

try something original...find a quiet place to have a picnic. get some good food, a cozy blanket to sit on, some good music, a couple candles, and don't forget a handful of daisies or something like that..and just concentrate on talking with her..way more fun and way more romantic than the mall or the movies

Dinner on a first date can be fun, especially if it's a fun place. We have this place called Ishban. They cook right at your table and are skilled with knives. It's entertaining, funny, interesting and well worth the money.

ask her what her favorite dish is ... then stay at home make her favorite dish with candle light. nothing can be more romantic than that. Enjoy looking into her eyes and listening to music. Also enjoy a lovely conversation with her.
