I have had a sore throat for 5 weeks along with an overall sick feeling. I don't want to do anything but lay down. I aso have other cold type symptoms-dull headache, stuffy head, mild cough, etc. I have seen 2 Dr's that say I have allergies and 1 that says I have a cold. I know what both are like and this is not it.For the last 2 years I have had the same symptoms about twice a month, but only for 2-7 days. Now I just can't shake it. My body feels weak and I just keep getting worse.Does anyone know what else could be wrong with me? I am only 25 years old, I eat healthy, and when I am not sick I exercise. I have an appt in December with an ear/nose/throat Dr, but if I am still sick I'll go nuts. I don't know what else to do. Any ideas?

sounds like you could have strep throat or mono, I would try another doctor and request some blood tests to see if there is something going on. It seems like doctors and P.A.'s think people just love to have medication which isnt the case but it is annoying and hard to deal with when you have something wrong and cant get anyone to listen. Also ask for a strep and mono test,if you are willing to pay for the tests they should be willing to do them to make sure you dont have either. have a good holiday season and I wouldnt wait till december to get an answer.

Sorry to hear that, but most doctor feel they know everything!!! You need to get a complete blood work to see how your white blood cells differ from your red blood cells. See what this doctor has to say in Dec. but you need to speak up when your seeing your doctor or any doctor. Remember...if a doctor just sits there and listens to you about your symptoms and says you have a cold....then he is not diagnosing you properly. Doctor's do this all the time. You need tell them....run blood test and see if anything is abnormal. Have you taken any antibiotics...maybe they should give you some and see if you get better. Most colds can turn into a bacteria infection and those do need to be treated with prescription. Good luck

It probably is allergies. They leave me feeling absolutely pooped; plus, I have a dull headache, stuffy head, mild cough, sore throat, sinus pain, etc...This is not all the time but at this time of year it becomes much more frequent. Glad to hear you are going to a specialist, this doctor may direct you to another specialist called an allergy specialist.

It could mono. But allergies can cause your symptoms too. Get plenty of rest, drink lots of fluids(h20).
