Of course it's abuse! But there must be a reason why your friend hasn't reported his parents yet (assuming he knows he can report them). Talk to him and ask him why - he may be concerned with things like, how the family will financially survive with his folks behind bars, how a broken family might impact siblings, etc.
I still think his parents should be reported, just that your friend has to realise why it's necessary. Your friend definitely needs counselling too, since abusive behaviour tends to repeat in vicious cycles down the generations.

Yes, it is abuse, and if you care about your friend, you will report it!!!
I am shocked that you have to even ask that question!!!! If he was hit in the face 5-6 times, he has marks or bruises. Call the police now!! Even if Jason denies that it happened, the marks will prove otherwise. He may be too scared to tell on his parents, so you need to!! Meth can do really awful things to people. Your friend may end up dead if something isn't done immediately!

Yeah dude that's totally abuse. That is one of the side effects of meth is that it makes you overly aggressive. Not too mention it smells like *** and makes your teeth rot out. These people need help before they get into too deep and seriously kill or injure your friend. Trust me I know I live in East Tennessee meth is huge around here. Get help

yes very much so.. but you cant do anything he has to.. you can call the cops about the meth but he has to report the beating.. you can bring it up but unless he backs it up they really wont do much but get child services involved.. and then if he don't back the story that he is getting beat and if the do do some investigating and don't find anything thing they cant do anything.. been there with already...

call the police fast~ there isn't any reason for that kind of treatment. i know about that kind of abuse. my father was abusive. he would get that way when one of his girlfriends wasn't home.[he and my mom was still married at the time]. it got so bad that mom had to quit her job and stay home just so he wouldn't hit any of us.don't let this poor kid suffer anymore at the hands of this jerk.

Yes. If your friend is over 18, he needs to leave. If he is under 18, this needs to be reported to CPS.
