Go to the Control Panel and find Administrator something-rather... You'll find Services. In Services, look for Windows Messenger, right click on it, and disable and stop it.

I haven't done it in a while, so forgive me if I get the names wrong.

I will assume you are referring to MSN or Yahoo messenger. On the lower right corner of your screen, in the toolbar near the clock, find the program messenger icon. Right click on it and select options or preferences. In the window that opens, look through the different choices till you find the ones that apply to what you wish to accomplish and select or deselect accordingly.

To disable for all users

Goto Run and type services.msc

u ll have the services window open and double click on windows messenger service and disable it in the property window shown...

To disable it for the current user....

Type msconfig in run window...
goto services tab and uncheck windows messenger
ull have the service disabled for the current user
