We have a cleaner and she is really useless. we have gone through 3 already coz they end up stealing or are too lazy. She now leaves early and takes loads of long breaks. We are fed up of her but dont want to get a new one coz its too annoying. We have also told her to do things and how to do them but she doesnt listen. on top of that she doesnt shut up - she sings really loud all the time, and she is useless at washing up - all the glasses and plates come out with food and washing up liquid on them. I put them out again and try and make more of a mess now but dont know what else i can do to make her work harder and get the message - please help.

if she has a car, then get her car keys (dont worry you are not going to steal it)
pour flour of talcum powder down all the air vents. clean off any residue and then turn her vents on full blast. wait till she goes homw and laugh your socks off as her car becomes an instant blizzard as she turns the ignition!!!

1 - Confront her and see if things improve.

2 - Do it yourself for a week so she has nothing to do and see what her reaction is, then take it from there.

3 - I assume she's employed direct, but if not, complain to her agency/boss

4 - Dock her wages, and make sure she knows why.

5 - Get a new cleaner

Can you change your source of employees? It sounds as if you don't really get on with the type of people you're already employing...

Not sure that making more of a mess will help - that might just encourage friction between you and bad local feeling.

Or, just let her know what the problems are, chill a bit, enjoy her singing and make her work environment such that she WANTS to work harder for you.

The first thing you need to do is fire her lazy butt. If you don't follow up on this quit your squawking. This problem will not just go away. When you hire the next cleaning person, make a list of the duties, and also a follow up on her performance. If they don't do what you ask, then you have a right to can them. There are hard working people out there, but you will have to be selective in the hiring process. Check their references. If they have none, you can usually tell by their personality if you are paying attention. You don't need to spare her feelings - you are paying for a service - if you ain't gettin' it, then git'r done.

You get what you pay for. Shop around and find out who the best cleaners are. They probably cost the most, but you seem to be someone that wants good quality work done. Fire your poorly performing cleaner and hire the better one. Be sure and be willing to pay well for it. You sound like you might not be the easiest person to work for. Hire the best and pay them well.

Sit her down and tell her that she is being given one more chance and if that still doesn't work call an agency like Merry Maids. The cleaners are supposed to have background checks.

Fire her and do the cleaning yourself. If you cannot find a person that will do the job to your satisfaction, then you will have to do it yourself. You could try praying about it and asking God to send you someone who is competent. We have had problems at the church with cleaning personnel, and we have found that you usually have to go through a few people before you find someone that is willing to do the job properly. Also, we have to do a lot of the work ourselves, because it is too much for one person to do.

Give her half a pay check for doing half a job, tell her you deducted all the extra breaks she took. That will really get things moving again.

If she did not have such low IQ she would not have been a cleaner. They all are of that intellect-level. It is better to forgive her because she may never get the message clear.

Each time she doesn't do her work well ask her to do it again and again til she gets it right.
