how harmful is it eating microwaved food? ive heard the radiation is minimal but is this true?

Zero from the food. Negligible from the microwave oven itself while it is on.

It is the equivalent of getting an electric shock from eating a piece of toast from the toaster - not going to happen.

That I don;t know. But I once read an article about a fast food place, where the owner decided to take the door of his microwave off as to safe time not having to open and close it all the time between warming food. Within a year he lost both hands due to all the radiation. Scary, isn't it!

The microwaves are evident in the air once on, it actually drives WiFi detectors crazy. But other than that no different from normal heating.
