It goes the same way for every other religion too.

Because the vast majority of "Satanists" don't practice Satanism. In fact, many "Satanists" wouldn't know the real thing if it bit them on the behind! Much like Wicca (and the two religions have little in common, by the way), Satanism gets a bad reputation not only from heresy and poor press (often from Christian sources), but also suffers from a number of "wannabes" who serve only to sully the public image.
Just so we're clear, Satanists do not sacrifice children or animals and do not engage in orgies (at least, not without the consent of all involved). In fact, if you ran into one, you'd probably never know it, as most don't discuss their religious views unless asked.
If it matters, I'm not Satanist, just a Wiccan who ernestly believes that so long as your beliefs do not infringe on the rights of others, no one is any more right or wrong than anybody else.
I've never spoken to anyone who can say with absolute certainty backed by first-hand experience what happens in the afterlife (or even if there is one).

Why do people judge Catholicism????
Before the even know about it?
I could repeat your same question for christianity.
Anyone can ask that same question from the standpoint of their beliefs... the bottom line here is that everyone tries to inflict their own beliefs on everyone else... wanna know where it gets us.. well, just look around, obviously it gets us nowhere but big anger matches... It's not worth it.... I respect the fact that you wonder why people judge before they truly understand all the facts... but you need to respect everyone else for wondering the same thing only about a different belief...
We all need to learn to be charitable, and just pray for each other, we all need to stop jumping down each others throats, and we all need to stop judging each other... no human being is good enough to judge the person next to them... there is a higher power who will judge us justly... I am guilty of jumping to conclusiions, but I am working on it... if we all work to stop judgemental behavior, then we just might understand each other better....

People seem to base everything on the religion they believe in. They don't like to accept peoples different beliefs, yet they judge people without knowing any of there background or anything about them. It's pretty much judging a person by the cover.

Because the inclusion of "satan" as part of any word is enough to scare people into not even researching it. That and, like Wicca, you have a very visible group of people who know absolutely nothing about Satanism going around proclaiming that they're Satanists and doing things that they "think" make them Satanists, when in fact they're just ignorant and sick.
Blessed be!

It has a bad reputation. Those raised in Christian faiths have a definite immediate negative reaction to the name, based on what they are taught.
I understand modern Satanism is not what the mainstream thinks it is, and has more in common with secular humanism than worship of evil, but it has an uphill battle to gain acceptance.

We "judge" it because God gives us the ability to discern right from wrong and good from evil. Bottom line is there are two choices - God or Satan. If you aren't on God's side you are on Satan's by default. I've heard Satanists rant they they don't "worship" Satan. Yes they do. We all serve a master. If it's not God it's Satan. There is no gray area there. I have read the "doctrines" of the Satanic church and they are certainly far from Biblical.
I call myself a "CHRISTian" because I believe in Christ and I accept His gift of salvation and eternal life and I worship Him. Why would a "SATANist" call him/herself that if Satan is not who he/she believes in and worships?

Because you used the name Satan as a brand image. I have to say, it's all about the mental image that name creates in our mind.
Let's see, If there's an Airline company named Crash and Burn, would you like to fly with them?

because the dark side should be done away with. do like to stumble in the dark? or rather walk in the light of the true light that's Satan's problem he thought the dark was best to walk in he didn't want to walk in the light. So God made it possible he had he's own way have his own kingdom . hows forty years of going in the light. and going to church that heals and bevies for people that loves him and worships only him can the devil heal anyone NO. he only kills and destroys make things harder on people loves to temped people.

It saids on answers.com that it worships satan. It's an survival of ancient worship of devil and in part a revolt against christianity or the church.
Kind of similar to Athiests.
Maybe that's why.
Im not judging it though.

"Satan- ism"
The angel that God banned from heaven had the name Satan,
because he was the most beautiful angel that he created, and
the music that Satan played was hypnotic...
He was kicked out of heaven after given several chances to apologize for what he had done. After he didn't he fell from heaven to EARTH.
And Satan built his own hell.. with the help of the Lord.
