is there any particular information in these 5th grade textbooks you dont know?!?

uhh.......

i would just help him along with your own knowledge....textbooks are really unnecessary in 5th grade anyways....

i dont get it though...even if you didnt know the information just do an internet search for it....you wont find his textbook but youll be able to understand the concepts he is learning and help him with it.

other than that...it should be EXTREMELY easy to get caught up in 5th grade....in high school, i end up doing homework fromt he moment i get home at 3:45 to the time i go to bed (11:30).

Velvet's on to something!
Its not that unusual for the students to not be allowed to take home the text books.
excuse me to be rude:
NOT ALL SCHOOLS CAN AFFORD TO BUY EVERY STUDENT A COPY OF EVERY TEXT BOOK
OR THEY CHOOSE NOT TO WASTE MONEY BUYING EVERY KID A COPY OF EVERY TEXT BOOK, SHEEESH!!

that being said 'ask the teacher if you can borrow a copy, let them know why you want to borrow it and when you will return it
or
copy the pages from the book that are relevant (at the school or at a copier store if you must) (try a Friday so it can be retruned Monday)

barring that, see if its available at the library
or
if an older edition is available to borrow/check out of the library/ purchase

or contact the publisher, see what support they offer on line for parents

or contact the members of the school board, generally publishers send a copy of every book they want to sell to every board member so that they chose their books

actually, this (the school board) may be a good place to start!!

garfieldswingssquishy - God, it's not like the kid goes to the worst school in the world. We were never allowed to take our books home, either, mostly because my school couldn't afford to lose them. Common sense, there, Sally.

Anyway, to actually answer the question, which is the whole point of this site, I believe that, if there were a place to read the books online, they wouldn't need the actual book. ;) I'd think your best bet would to be to personally ask his teacher to borrow a copy of the book. I'm sure they'd be willing to trust you with it more than they would the children.

If the teacher won't let you barrow the books get the ISBN # and TITLE of book. I would then check out EBay or Alibris on-line. Both sell used books.
This is in the "Home Schooling" category. You may get a more concise answers if you put this in a "Pregnancy & Parenting" subcatigory "Grade-Schooler".
Anyway hope what I could give you can help.

You might try going to Google and doing a book search. (Click on "More", then on "Books". You can then enter the title of the book, then click the "Search Books" button. Provided that they do have the textbook among their list of available books, you should then be able to read it online.

Easy. Just search on Google the name of the textbook and you shall find the book you want.
