It is not true that "faith only exist in the absence of fact". Often faith is a "leap" that is based on fact. Every scientist or researcher in the world has done that. They study all the results from test, experiments, etc. But no test or experiment is going to give you ALL the facts. There comes a moment when the person has to make a decision or conclusion based on that facts. They have to trust not only their "facts", but their ability to interprete the "facts". That is a moment of faith.

"If faith had facts to support it then wouldn't it become knowledge?". Yes. That is correct. And just like any good scientist or researched, once you have reached a conclusion - taken the "facts" and made a leap of faith to what they mean - you then should be able to support your conclusion. As you do, that faith becomes knowledge. You prove your "faith" either right or wrong. That knowledge can be recorded and shared confidently with others. Over time, you grow in your knowledge and understanding as you continue to research and experiment.

One of the best areas so see this is in the area of religion. A person begins with what "facts" they have about God (which may be from years of searching, reading, questioning, etc. or from a second of desperation where they grasp out and hope something is there) and then make a "faith leap" that He is there.. Many people, (like myself) have been surprised to find that when they took that leap of faith, that God was there to caught them.

Having once made the "leap", you can move from "faith" to "knowledge" as you grow in your relationship with him. You come to a point where faith has become knowledge and can no longer be challenged. It is a fact, just as real and solid as any other fact around you. Once you have meet God, you wonder how you could have been so blind before.

Faith can and often does begin with facts you know. And it always leads to knowledge about what you have faith in. Faith is not ignorance, but rather the first step to understanding and knowing any subject. But faith never ends, as there is always more that you have to learn and grow into by first taking a step of faith into that next area.

Faith doesn't exist only in the absence of fact...there is no factual evidence disproving God, no matter how many times Atheist say that. You're probably thinking evolution, which hasn't been proved as 100% fact yet, and if a person has an open mind, they could accept the idea that God could have engineered evolution. I don't understand why Atheist base their whole basis for denying religion on an old book...

Faith is the substance of things hoped for the evidence oe things not seen.Faith is believing in someone or something.
Faith does not exist in the abscence of fact, because gives us all the facts we may need, the choice is up to us to let go and let God.
By seeking the truth means why are surrendering each day to Christ because we want him to live his life through us so that, his will can be done.

This means that we must believe in God, so that what he tells us to do we wouldn't stutter in doing it, but this "faith" only comes by searching his word daily and diligently as with a fine tooth comb. Because with the aid of His Spirit (access it thriugh prayer) only can we know what it truth.

So faith is relying on God!

In an abstract way, truth is not the same as fact.

In this statement, seeking the truth would come from searching one's heart and soul. It wouldn't be a "fact" you could present in a courtroom, but the truth you find becomes the foundation for your faith.

HTH.

Yep. "faith" is idea with none information, information, common sense, or reason. once you commence utilizing any of those issues to make judgements, you're literally not dealing with "faith" any extra. non secular people, indoctrinated to imagine "faith" is the finest ingredient in view that sliced bread, many times see each and every thing contained in the international in words of "faith." a marginally stupid and extremely ignorant perspective. you'll see them many times putting forward such issues as, "you've faith that a chair is going to assist you formerly you're taking a seat..." Nonsense. I have understanding about the potential of fabrics, and about structure...I have adventure with what sorts of chairs can and may't help me. i'm dealing with understanding and adventure, not 'faith.' Peace.
