No, just report it stolen. Call police and make a report. Then call your insurance to see if any items are covered. Glass should be covered if window was broken for entry. I doubt your radar detector is covered. Plus if you have a deductible it is probably more money then your radar detector cost new. I'm sorry but this one may be your loss. Don't feel bad it is happening to someone else as we speak. Radar detectors don't work anyways. Especially if your alone on the highway. The beeping sound just lets you know, that you just got caught speeding. If your caught speeding with radar detector you will get a ticket. If you don't have one you may just get out of the ticket. All a radar detector does is guarantee you a ticket. Just count your losses and don't leave stuff in visible site.

I'm thinking you'll be better off driving the speed limit, anyway.
Since a radar detector is used to break the law, I'm not sure reporting it's loss to the police will have them falling all over themselves to actively pursue a case.
And I don't think your insurance company would be all that thrilled you're using one of those, either.

The same thing happened to me. The police took a report and that was the end of it. They never recovered my items.

Just buy another one and hide it when you're not driving. The same thing happened to me years ago. It's not worth jacking up your insurance premiums by reporting it to your insurance company.

Check with your car insurance company. There will be a decuctible , but it may not cover contents. and CALL THE POLICE

There is no way to get it back unless you know who stole it.
