I find it slightly sad that almost everyone who has answered saying that joining a church is a good idea has been rated with a "bad answer". The question might be better asked - if you have faith is it necessary to join a church. The answer to this would be no it is not, but by finding the right church, it can help you to grow in your faith and learn more about what faith actually is. The Bible says that the church is the body of Christ - that is the people not the building, and so it seems to me that by meeting with other Christians then that is church! For those who will no doubt slam this, attending church is not just about what you can get out of it, it is also about what you can contribute to a community.

You should go! How will you ever know you like it without trying it. The old cliche "Never judge a book by it's cover" seems so appropriate here. You may find a great group of people that you connect with, but realistically you may also find the opposite. Don't give up if your first visit isn't the greatest. Give it a fair chance. It is important that you feel comfortable and welcome in your place of worship. It is so great to have a community of believers to support and encourage one another. Most important to remember is that you will only get out of something what you put into it.

It is very important. The Church is the Body of Christ, where God is worshiped, where you are fed on Christ's Body and Blood, where you hear the Word of God, and where you get to practice your skills of forgiveness. Every day. The Church is the regular place where Christians are formed and made holy.
Hebrews 10:25: "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching."

Well it's up to you, Birds of a feather flock together and all that! There is safety in numbers! I do not think you need to join a church. However there are many good reasons for joining. Simply meeting people of like mind can be reassuring and it improves your social life. On the down side you may be required to "toe the line" and "stand up and be counted" when it comes to your faith. Give it a go, you can always say "no thanks!" later

I have always felt that God's Church was his people and not a building. It is important for believers to gather together in Fellowship though. You don't join a Church because you know people there. You join a Church that shares your beliefs and helps you grow in your faith. That should make you secure.

I believe church attendance is important."..don't forsake the assembling of yourselves together..".
You can't judge a church by its building, but you may get a clue as to the people there. Is the place well kept? This helps. Go to a couple of services. Are they preaching the Word from the Bible, and accurately? Does it meet your needs? And we are to be there to help each other.. "as iron sharpens iron..". We need the fellowship of others and the accountability.

You don't need a building and a middleman to tell you what you know to be true in your heart. If the look of the church and the fellowship comforts you, then yes, you should go, but do not feel compelled to do so because everyone else does.

Yes, it is very important to find a place where you can grow in your faith and have fellowship with your fellow believers (this is the purpose of The Church, to be loved and to show love)

No, its not important. We all show our beliefs in our own ways. I would saty at home and eat a meal on a sunday. No need to go to church.
