In Little House on the Praire or in other classical historical books, a child always called his/her father Papa or Pa. When did the change over from Papa to Daddy happen? For what reason? Do you know that the rest of the world uses the word Papa or its variants?

I don't know but my Dad called his parents Ma & Pa and He was born in 1917 Dad was born in Illinois to parents who were from Belgium. Mom called her parents Mawee and Pawpee. She was born in 1927.She was from Kentucky. I was born in 1948 and I called my parents Daddy and Mommy until I was older then that changed to
dad and Mom.
