Gauging out eyes is an Islamic punishment if someone causes injury to some other's eye. Saudi King forgave an Indian recently who was sentenced to have his eyes gauged for injuring another man in a fight. This all happened just because of the Indian govts pressure on Saudia Arabia else the poor man would have gone blind.

They do not belong to today's world.
Christianity is 2000 yrs old. Islam is only some 1300 yrs old.
So, they lag behind by 700 yrs in the maturity scale.

You should not even had to ask them their opinion. You will get an answer coming from the 14th century (our time - i.e non-muslims).

It's only in 700 yrs time that a muslim will give an answer same as ours today. But, in 700 yrs, we will be another 700 years ahead in the scale of civilisation.

What I've written you as my answer is the plain truth. Unfortunately, it may not sound politically correct to many people and this answer may be deleted.

That would depend on the Muslim.
I am sure you know this, but I will point out that there are fanatics in all organized religions, and outside religion as well.
The Bible talks about "an eye for an eye" and such things that are no longer considered acceptable in todays society, so does the Koran.
Only the blind miss the fact that the books they worship were written in another age, in an era that no longer exists, by men, not by God.
It could be argued that even though a man held the pen, his hand was guided by God...in fact that is what they all say.
To believe one book, regardless of the book, as the only source of truth and wisdom, especially an old book written by sheep herders or camel jockies, is....well.....foolish.

Which country/countries have negligible rate of crime and nominal population in Jails? The country like Saudi Arabia or a country like U S A ? Why you ought to be favouring the criminal rather than favouring the Victim of the crime ?
The goal of any civilised society is to maintain Law and Order and a Society in Peace. At whatever means of punishment to criminals may it be achieved. Think of the welfare of the many than of the few. In Saudi Arabia, for example, a young woman pilgrim, from abroad, wearing jewellery, can be all alone to go to prayer in the Mosque without any fear or anxiety. She can leave her hotel room unlocked. She has no need for her male escort to accompany her. He may go all alone by himself, to his convenience of timings. I am yet to quote Iran...

If you ever had time to educate yourself, the bible and the old testament also mentioned this kind of punishment, chopping limbs and stoning to death is an acceptable punishment.
I dunno about gauging out eyes though, it's not in the shariah

Who are we to question it. Who says everyone else is doing everything the right way, maybe we should have punishments like that everywhere. There are worse punishments performed in non Muslim countries.

You should listen to them talking to know they are like 1000 years behind, and they would allow you to have 100 women without marriage if you can afford feeding them.
