well, so far in america, yes. you may be ostracized for your opinion, but you will not be murdered for it. limitations set by cultural norms are entering our free speech. you are free to believe killing people is okay, as long as you don't practice it. laws are there to protect the majority supposedly. we gain new limits every day. hopefully, one day americans will get pissed off enough to put an end to it.

I have learned, that though we live in a society that says we have free speech,we really do not.If you do not go with the main stream, you are considered either mentally ill,non conformist, argumentative, trouble maker, obnoxious.I do however believe we have free choice,to appear to be all these things if you voice your opinion.Be ready for the rejection if it does not adhere to the main stream of society.

Free speech and freedom of choice must have limits. If not, there would be confusion. For instance: Would it be right if everyone exercised his freedom of choice to ignore speed laws on the highway? Of course not. Would it be okay if pedophiles openly expressed their perversions? No. Total freedom would be bad for everyone.

Oh, I thought you were asking if I thought we should have to pay for it or something. In a way we do pay for our opinions, choices and what we say because we do live in a community where others live. If your actions are out of the ordinary you will be ridiculed or ostracized. It's just the way of a society.

There are limits. There is no complete freedom. Your freedom ends where it starts harming (or potentially harming) someone else and some opinions are less appreciated than others. You can have whatever opinion you want, but if you express it or act on it and it's generally disliked there can be bad consequences.
