It seems to be an allergic reaction. Symptoms include itchy rashes, swollen lips and nose, dry mouth, and a general feeling of malaise. Benadryl seems to help but the symptoms recur. The symptoms don't seem to be tied to the ingestion of a particular food or drink. The doctors don't seem to know what the problem is, do any of you?

Ask your doc to run an ANA blood test-a test for lupus.

Your symptoms could still be caused by an allergic respose called "urticaria". In Up to 50% of cases of urticaria, no identifiable cause can be identified. In spite of short term anihistamines (suchas benadryl) the symptoms reoccur. My recommendation would be to start a long acting antihistamine (Loratadine -Claritin OTC or Zyrtec Prescription) and possibly steroids. A blood test may distinguish your symptoms between an allergy or infection (viral) but it won't necessarily identify the exact cause. Take this info to your MD. Good Luck

sounds allergic you should get skin allergy tested. They are more accurate. And the allergy if it is one could be from anything almost. I grew up with a high sensitivity to some things and was never tested until i was 24 and had 48 test done on my back all at once and a lot of the results surprised me but it also gave me a great peace of mind

Someone in my family use to get these symptoms when they ingested aspirin or anti-inflammatories like ibuprophen/motrin. If you're taking them on a regular basis, you can develop an allergy. Or it could be Rx medication like prednisone/cortisone. Not enough info to really know, but something to think about. Godloveya.

Are your symptoms worse in any one place - do you feel worse at the office/work, or at home? There could be something in your environment that's tearing you up - a "sick" building that maybe has mold or something in the carpets...hope you get some answers soon!
