I have been on the hospital web site,but cant find anything relevant to year i am interested in.

Hey CB,

You are looking for Vital Records. A birth record is kept by local towns first. You can usually type "Vital Record " in a Yahoo Search and many sites will show. I did that for Liverpool, and the search URL below shows the places you can look.

You mentioned free, and that is the catch - you will only get free records if someone else has the record and wants to share. It costs money to keep records, and the record keepers will charge you. You might ask on GENFORUM for the specific family name, if anyone has a copy. I have not found that to be fruitfull.

Maybe you would be better looking in a townhall for the registrar of births and deaths (something like that).

They offer a free trial + their BMD register is free to search anyway. Also try Genes reunited (on friends reunited).
