Check the pads on his paw to make sure that he didn't step on any glass or anything else sharp, if there is something there remove it...if he'll let you.
If you don't see anything and he seems to be in pain, or if his behaviour changes in any way the best thing you can do for him is take him to the Vet.

But, DO NOT give your cat over the counter pain medication made for Humans...it is deadly to cats.

Absolutely DO NOT give him any human pain relievers especially aspirin. A cat cannot metabolize it.

If you are concerned, call your local vet. Otherwise let the cat deal with it in whatever way it seems fit which will probably be to hide itself. You might want to get it a disposable low sided cake pan to use for a litter box so it doesn't have to put it's weight on it's hurt foot.

Take kitty to vet to make sure a bone isn't fractured. You can't give cats human pain medication, you could kill your cat doing that. Vet will give kitty medicine.
