I used to cry when I was going to get a shot as a little girl. I was a big baby! But now, I have learned to just look away and calm my self with the simple, mature awareness that, of course, it is going to hurt a little and sting for a moment. But knowing that, I don't have to over react. When the hurt happens I wince, take a deep breath, ride on top of the pain for a second, and then it is over.

First, it is not abnormal to have a fear of needles, i see people everyday who are. They are both male and female, and they are all soldiers. I use to have the same fear, and one day i just told myself to quit being silly. The needles used for the flu shot are tiny, 22gauge in most cases. That is slightly larger than the human hair. So, pain should not be an issue. If you are so worried about the shot, there is a flu mist now and it is just as effective as the shot. Ask your doc if he has it where you are. best wishes, and try not to look at the needle.

Are you in the "risk zone" where you would actually need a flu shot? If not , why do it. I'm old but in excellent health and would never consider a flu shot. I avoid all medications unless absolutely neccessary and look and act 20 years younger than I am.

What do u mean when it happens? Just suck it up and get it! Having the flu is worse than getting the shot. And nowadays, the flu virus can be deadly. Sepsis of unknown origin has killed many people that had the flu to began with. So just get it.

My mother has to get the flu shot because of her work and she gets sick every year i've never been injected with that crap and i never will. I've never had the flu, just wash your hands and don't touch your face after handling stuff in public.

The flu shot doesn't even hurt. You won't cry.
