permission???
Aryan husbands cut off the ears and nose of their wives if they left the house without their prior permission. The Pancatantra mentions one such story [Pancatantra p.54, I.7th story "The Weaver’s Wife"]. The weaver cut off his wife’s nose because she did not respond and he considered her unfaithful. (actually he cut off the barber’s wife’s nose who was there instead.) The Ramayana and Lord Rama practiced the cutting off of womens’ noses for minor offences, thereby providing divine sanction for the custom. Shurpanakha was a Dravidian lady ( referred to as Rakshis or female demons by the Aryans) who fell in love with Rama. She proposed to him, but he directed her to his brother Laxman. He cut off her ears and nose for this crime, and Ram condoned this act.

Little knowledge is dangerous. You are its best example. You have no shame to take an Id by a Hindu God and then condemn and ridicule your own Gods. It is better to be a good Muslim than to be a bad Hindu in Hindustan.

All religions have been impacted by the primitive and violent patriarchal attitudes that cause some men feel the need to dominate women to make themselves feel more important. As we become a global community, we must all work together to create equality and mutual respect between men and women. Anything less is not religion, but only ignorant superstition.

Beacause for Hindu, women are inferior, and are to be dealt rashly for an offense. But I haven't heard that they actually cut off ears and noses.

i guess in the olden days, men considered themselves as the most important person in a relationship. they had more importance than women. they could do what ever they want to them. it is their wife. but now a days ther are more rules and regualations. isn't there?

in my opinion u should chage your question to "why did hindu..." not "why do hindu..." because hardly anyones does it nowadays as protection rules are more stronger.

(Pancatantra is spelled as Panchatantra i think)

Prison, the rest of his life. No chance of getting out. In Afghanistan relatives must bring you food, it is not provided by the prisons. Let him have no visitors. If he is to eat it will be from begging from other prisoners. See how many of them think what he did is forgiveable.

why do you confine this question to Hindus only? every religion treats women as sex symbols and confine them to either bed room or kitchen. women hold up half of the sky. only people who are rational armed with scientific temper treat women as equal. all the religions treat women alike.

But why muslim men do this thing to their wives and sisters? for referrence u can see any news paper of PAKISTAN, AFGHANISTAN AND INDIA. u will see many muslim men have done this act to their wifes, sisters and mothers.
It is a fact u can check any paper. and the very famouse case is MUKHTARAN MAI who was raped by a whole community of that villagers, and they were muslims, they all raped her collectively in front of whole village and try to kill her but she managed to escaped.
so now the question is why muslims men do like that to their woman? even their Quran and Prophet (PBUH) have asked them to treat good with their female..............!
as far as going out of home without permission of their men. this thing is very common in saudi arabia. no woman can go outside without the permission of their men
in afghanistan, (In the time of Taliban) taliban wipped the woman in front of all the men if they see any lonely woman or woman with out burqa?
so whats the difference? what u will say to this?
