It depends what she likes. Maybe pay for Spa treatment like a massage, get her hair done or take her out to the theatre if she likes that? My Mum isn't too well so last year I got her a personal CD and meditation CDs which she has found very useful.

Try a subscription to a magazine - something coming through her door which interests her every month for a year is a lovely way to remind her how thoughtful you were! Also at the moment a lot of them have free gifts if you take out a year's subscription. (I have just got 'ideal home' for my mum, who is about to move into a new house.)

I once bought my Mom a lovely antique broach at the market. She loved that. And I once bought her a jewellery box (wooden) with the most beautiful carving on. But in general, think of something that she wouldn't buy for herself, but would love to have. Moms often say "I'd love one of those" but they wouldn't spend money buying one. Or get her a subscription to her favourite magazine, like Women's Own or some such.

I've got her some leather gloves for driving in. A top from Next she wanted and a few smellies.

A nice necklace
a watch
a nice card with a gift card inside
What is something she wants but would not just go get it herself?
Good luck

I think it would be nice if you were to call into a local beauty salon and buy your mum a gift voucher. She could then redeem it for a manicure/facial or massage. A real treat ...don't you think!
Or just ask her what she wants.
