We bought the house new, actually we moved in before it was finished. So, we've lined here 3 years now and the fleas started this year.

I was able to get rid of fleas by vacuuming them up and spraying pesticide in the vacuum bag. The advice came from a pest control person. You have to be pretty vigilant and vacuum a few times each day. You also have to kill the eggs or kill the fleas after they hatch from the eggs because some pesticides don't kill the eggs and therefore don't rid you of your problem. If the infestation is very bad, like you have fleas in several rooms of the house, you might have to use a bug bomb AND do the vacuuming thing. Vacuuming and spraying the bag is important because of the flea eggs. I'll reiterate, if you don't get rid of the hatching eggs you won't get rid of your problem.

Use frontline on your kitty to avoid future infestations.

Take the cat to the vet for a flea bath and front line. At your house, do a flea bomb. When you come home, sweep all the carpets and the furniture. Then take the sweeper outside and put the bag in the trash. Do not bring the bag back into the house. Do this everyday for at least a week.
At night, put a plate with some water and dish soap under a nightlight. The light will attract the flea and the water will drown them. Do this also in the basement.
Wash everything your can in hot water. Comb your cat with a flea comb.
Fleas don't like the smell of citrus. Cut some lemons or oranges up, boil in water and put in a water bottle. Then spray it all over your house.
Put apple cider vinagar in your cats water. Try to get brewers yeast in your cats diet. Do not try garlic as that is toxic to your cat.
Good luck!

Fleas can live off humans just as much as animals. My cat was run over and killed two months ago, and she had brought fleas into the house and it was badly infested at the time. I thought they had all died until about 20 minutes ago when I saw a HUGE flea on my hand while I was typing :|

I've tried many methods, house sprays, powders, everything. I think the only thing that may work is fumigation, because you need to get ALL the eggs and all the dormant fleas.

How long have you been in the house? Fleas can live dormant for quite some time...then when a good food source (such as a cat) comes around, they can "wake" back up and multiply. Fleas can also come in on a person...if they get a hold of a pet, then they can multiply.

I've seen both Frontline and Advantage work very well for flea infestations (we also "bombed" the house).

Fleas have been especially bad in many areas of the country this year because of the mild winter last year.
You are probably tracking them in on your clothes and shoes.
You need to have someone come in and treat the whole house, the lawn, and remove your shoes before coming in the house.
The pet needs to be treated at the same time.
There is a good spray that you can use available from a Vet, called Orvitrol, I think. You spray the cat for a week and it builds up a coat of protection. Also giving it Frontline Plus or something of that nature should take care of it. Also available from the Vet.

You need to get your cat treated for fleas. On the same day, before you bring your cat home from the flea treatment, get your house flea bombed. You and your cat will not be able to go in the house until the chemical dissipates and the fleas are all dead. After that, make sure you use Frontline or Advantage for Cats to prevent your cat from being reinfested.

Fleas can be brought into the home by pants legs, boots, shoes, and any other thing sat down outdoors. Give cat a bath with flea shampoo(if impossible use spray shampoo that doesnt need water) and vaccuum , vaccuum, vaccuum!!!! Cat should have flea collar or medication(the pills work good from vet). Remember the more you vaccuum the fewer fleas you will have.Keep it up for a couple weeks you should get it under control.

take the cat and get her deflead. get them to keep her overnight. while she's there get your house sprayed, or you can do it yourself. theres spray bottles that i got at petcetra that cost like 20 bucks each. i got 2 of em, and i sprayed my whole house. worked great. but dont' get the raid. does nothing. i used it myself and seemed to make it worse. get the expensive stuff. its worth it. then let it sit after spraying the carpets and furniture. wash all your bedding. and anything else that may need it. the next morning before you go get your cat, steam clean the carpets, furniture and your bed. that should do it. my cat had fleas. i took them to a friends when i went on vacation. when i got back the fleas were so infested there was like 10 that jumped on my legs when opened the door. i did all that right away. kind of sucked after just getting home, but it worked. i can't remember what its called. but if you dont' have a petcetra, go to any store that sells animal products. its quite expensive. so that should help you to find which one. cause there are few that are over 20 bucks out there that are for sale. and if she doesnt' go outside, that should be bonus afterwards. cause then all the fleas will be gone and she won't bring them back in. they might of been infested in the carpets before you moved in. anyways, long story, but good luck

First of all go get your cat some advantage for cats. It is expensive, but worth it. It takes about 1 day to get in the cats system. You need to bomb your house for flea's, then sweep your house really good. Then lastly get a flea collar for your cat.
You should br flea free.

You will need to get some frontline or another brand flea killer for your cat. this will kill all the fleas on her, but she will get reinfested because the house is infested. After you get her the flea stuff you need to get a bug bomb, or bug poison, and use that in your house. This will kill all the fleas in your house.
