Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

"This is a great recipe that I found in my Grandma's recipe book. Judging from the weathered look of this recipe card, this was a family favorite."
Original recipe yield: 4 servings

PREP TIME 5 Min

INGREDIENTS
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon white sugar
1 1/4 cups milk
1 egg
3 tablespoons butter, melted ( = 45 gr )

DIRECTIONS
In a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Make a well in the center and pour in the milk, egg and melted butter; mix until smooth.
Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium high heat. Pour or scoop the batter onto the griddle, using approximately 1/4 cup for each pancake. Brown on both sides and serve hot.

The only problem with bisquick is that everything you make with it tastes the same! But it is quick and easy. Krusteze is better. For a good scratch recipe, here's one I have used for years. From a 1943 Watkins cookbook I got from my grandmother:

2 cups flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
3 teaspoons (one tablespoon) sugar
3 eggs (separated, and whites beaten till stiff...though you can use them whole without much difference)
1 1/2 Milk

Beat eggs separately in a bowl
(dry ingredients will be mixed in a different bowl to start with)
stir in dry ingredients alternately with the milk
Fold in stiffly beaten egg-whites (if you choose this method)

For a good change, you can add a teaspoon of apple-pie spice
and diced apples. Here's how:

After mixing, spoon the batter (don't mix in the apples) onto the HOT pan, the add the apples by hand to each pancake. When the edges are dry, flip. Really easy!

Have fun!

U can use instant pancakes that you can buy in the grocery or just make it yourself. these are the ingredients and procedure how to make.

2 cups flour
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup buttermilk
3/4 cup milk
2 large eggs, separated
1/4 cup melted butter
2 tbps. vegetable oil

In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and soda.
In another bowl, whisk together buttermilk and milk, egg yolks, and melted butter. Blend into the dry ingredients just until all ingredients are moistened.

Beat egg whites in another bowl until stiff peaks form.

Fold into the batter until well incorporated.
Heat a small amount of oil in a large skillet over medium heat. When skillet is hot enough for a drop of water to sizzle, scoop pancake batter onto the skillet in about 1/4-cup portions, spreading slightly. When edges are rather dry and bubbles are popping and bottoms are nicely browned, about a minute turn over and cook the other side until browned, 50 sec.

happy eating :)

Easy to remember recipe.

1 cup flour
1 cup milk
1 egg
half cup oil
pinch salt

Mix it together
Heat your pan, and spray it with oil
pour a ladle's worth into the pan and slightly tilt your pan from side to side until the surface is covered with the dough.
let it bake until the sides of the pancake pull away from the side of the pan.
Flip it with your egg lifter.
Fry for about 50 seconds
Done!

Pour a mix of Cinnamon and sugar over every pancake and cover it until you stacked all your pancakes!
Nice and syrupy!

Well I'm the no fuss no muss type so Aunt Jemima's Buttermilk "just add water" mix works for me. You can just simply add fresh blueberries, a few to each pancake after you pour it into the pan, then flip it when ready. You can add cranberries too, sliced strawberries if you like. You can put jam on them for something different too. I prefer cinnamon and light syrup on mine.

You can use Bisquick or make them from scratch. Bisquick is much easier. All you do is add milk and eggs. But from scratch, you can check http://www.foodnetwork.com for the recipe.
