I'm sure it is part of their diet when they live outside the home. Does it provide some extra fiber or nutrients that they should be getting from their cat food?

Actually , cats eat grass for the extra fiber .. Most cats food(unless they are the indoor formula ) do not have enough fiber in them.. they do not eat grass for a upset stomach .. thats what dogs do..Hope this helped.. If you want your cats to have more fiber , try an indoor formula...Also, they make treats that are high in fiber and thus do not have the craving for grass :)

Cats do it and dogs do it for the same reason,it helps with their stomach. I don't know if it's to help when the stomach is upset or just would do it in general as a regular thing for digestion. I've also heard that it helps cats break up hairbals so they aren't as much of an issue. Which makes alot of sense since it seems the cats who have the biggest problems with hairballs are indoor cats.

From what I've read experts believe that it induces vomiting to get rid of fur balls. No one is entirley sure though as there has not been a lot of extensive research on this. But this would seem to make sense. I guess it could also be a way of getting rid of anything else they may have injested (mines are allways hoovering up something that they shouldn't).
