Have the front end inspected by a reputable mechanic...not the dealer who is selling it, before you buy. These things are notorious for control arms/ball joints etc.

Any Sears Auto Center will do this check for you free.

RUN RUN RUN away from any of these vehicles..since they first started making the expedition and explorer they have allways had problems with transmission issues and front end parts. It's very expensive to replace and maintain..you have to ask yourself this question when you are buying a used vehicle.."WHY is this person selling" ask the person why they want to get rid of their vehicle..when you buy a car it's because you "HAVE TO HAVE IT" so why would you get rid of it all of a sudden..most of the time it's because there is something about to cost you alot of money so we tend to try and pass this on to someone else..so allways deal with a dealership and test drive the vehicle to a respectable mechanic to have it completely checked out even if it cost you fifty dollars now..better than thousands later.
