What if everyone is going through exactly what they came here for?

you have to look at it like this
if you could stop the suffering and you do...it's pre-ordained
if you don't...it's pre-ordained
therefore the person suffering is still in your soul circle and you were meant to meet in this life which is also pre-ordained
but the choice is still yours to make and that is the ultimate choice of free will
karmically you have already made the choice
choose wisely

We can't stop suffering, it's a part of life.

To make the judgement though, that we are here to experience suffering is arrogant, and poignantly painful.

Life entails suffering. Life isn't about suffering.

Individuals who seek suffering and pain I don't believe are being honest with themselves or others. Or they have lost a sense of hope. Hope is necessary to see us through without hope there is no faith, without faith there is no hope.

To live, love, learn and grow one has to have a sense of hope and will to move past the pain and achieve success/satisfaction on whatever level (be it personal, professional or spiritual).

To mire oneself in pain and suffering is hopeless and a stagnant means of survival. A person can only learn and grow from pain and suffering if they hope to overcome and surpass it. Otherwise its simply a vice and they are just lazy.

That said, in the end, we can only offer help. It is up to the individual to recognize they need it, realize they want it, and accept it.

One more thought: When we seek, relish and crave pain and suffering it is a selfish way of avoiding self improvement, and keeping us from truly helping others. It's difficult to help others if we ourselves are in a struggling situation. (i.e. Rockfeller was able help a lot more people as a successful businessman than my grandfather was as a dirt farmer: A recovered addict is a much stronger position to help another addict than a user).

Well, with the phrase you used, "stop someone's suffering," I'm positive I wouldn't want you putting an end to mine. You might do it with a gun or something!

Some people need something other than what they have, and they will be fine. It's not a give me death or give me liberty type situation. It's a lead me to see how best to accomplish it all type....

if some person needs to learn something in the hard way, even if you try to help, you can't. but if you can help someone to relieve its pain, then it is because you had to be there for some reason. if you get confused, step back and observe. not always what persons want is what persons really want, take the case of an alcoholic who wants to drink, but no alcoholic wants to be a slave and to be ill... All came to life to have life in plenitude. Everything that is not life in plenitude is not what we really need... if some person suffers and says "i want this suffering" is because he or she doesn't know yet what is life about, and if you know that, you can help her/him to discover it.

Because maybe that is the experience we are suppose to have, to include seeing the troubles of others and do what we can to help. And if we are able to help in some way, then the one who was helped is suppose to have that experience.
