Make sure your Recycle Bin is emptied.
Empty your history and cache from your internet web browser. In Internet Explorer go to
Tools-> Internet Options
click on the Clear History button
click on the Delete Files in the Temporary Internet files section.
If you guys download a lot of mp3s or movies, deleting them will clear up a lot of space.
Another option is to buy another hard drive, so you would have 2 hard drives. They are so inexpensive now days.
Right now at Future Shop you can get a 250 Gig hard drive for $90.

The virus in your computer may have filled your disk drive with garbage that does not readily show up on a disk inventory. There are programs I recommend. If your disk space is infested with spyware and adware, download Stopzilla and run a system scan. The program is kept very current. I run it with Windows XP with no problems. For viruses, I recommend downloading AVG Free Edition. It does a thorough scan and is kept very up to date --in fact I receive NIGHTLY updates. So if you download AVG and update it yourself as soon as you install it, you will intercept just about every virus that CAN be dealt with. Finally, it would be worth the money to download and install Advanced System Optimizer. This will clean and repair your disk registry. If you are still getting a notice that you are down to your last 20 Gigs, take the laptop to a reliable repair person or a knowledgeable friend and get his or her take...

If your daughter "deleted some files", you would have more space than b4...not less.
Anyway, go out and buy a USB hard drive. They are cheap and are plug/play. You should have something anyway to backup your files. This way, if "Murphy" comes to visit, he wont cause a problem if he deletes more than just files.
Good luck.

First complete the following steps to make some space on your C drive.
1) go to start > all programs > accessories > system tools > disk cleanup. Run disk cleanup to delete unnecessary files from your C drive
2) Create a folder in another partition, and rename it as backup. Then copy everything from your "my documents folder" in C drive to this folder and delete the files from c drive. That should make some space on your C drive.
Or if you do not have another partition on your hard disk then copy/burn those files to a cd/dvd.
3) download+install+run Free Crap Cleaner ccleaner http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/
(uncheck the option to install yahoo toolbar during instalation of ccleaner, if you do not want yahoo toolbar to be installed on your computer)

See dear. do one thing take some data on CD i.e. songs, photos, etc. means that thing which you can access from CD.
and we all are using most C: in compare of other partition. so you need to transfer stroge from other partition to C:.
for the you need Partation Magic full version by using that you can easly transfer space without formating or loosing your data.
i have tried it.

try seeing what everything is saved on because most time you only saved on 1 drive. you should also try empting the recycling bin, if you do all these and you still need more memory, get a new computer.
