This backwards notion raises costs for everyone else.

Instead of spending their time productively, these people waste everyone else's time looking for a hand-out.

Someone asked for details. I am very comfortable making this statement.

In some other countries, judges have the cajones to tell lawyers presenting frivolous suits to "get the hell out of my courtroom."

Yes. You do pay for this.
Every lawsuit gets soaked up through higher insurance premiums billed to you.

If the tragedy/pain was caused by the malicious action of another than that person should be made to pay some sort of restitution. Many malicious acts don't actually rise to the level of a criminal act. In these instances the only redress the victim has is to sue under civil tort law to punish the offender.

Tort law is not unique to the United States, nor is vexatious litigation.

If they want to waste people's time, that's okay. It just means that they will be out of pocket if their lawsuit fails, as do most suits that lack merit.

Americans and non-Americans (like myself) feel perfectly entitled to compensation if injured, inconvenienced or put out of pocket because of somebody else's negligence. Don't you think you are entitled to this right?

There is less regulation of commercial activities in the US compared to other OECD. Therefore companies may end up injuring people. However tort law acts as a disincentive to protect, and compensate, consumers and workers.

Is that any different to a CEO expecting to be paid a thousand times as much as everyone else or some dufus being paid millions to hit a little white ball down a hole with a stick? The world is full of professional bludgers.

It would be important for me to know where you got your information. First "many Americans" sounds like you have some statistics. Can you provide them to me?
If you do nothow do you know so many Americans feel this way. Do non-Americans feel this way also? or are you just stereotyping?

If someone has been wronged, they are entitled to be compensated.

To say that it raises costs for everyone is erroneous propaganda.
