"Sounds Serious" It works in all situations, for example;
her) My kitten keeps attacking my ankles and is ruining my nylons!
him) Sounds serious!

boss) We are two weeks behind schedule and the deadline is in three days
him) Sounds serious!

doctor) I am not sure how to say this, but...
him) Sounds serious!

Her again) I think I am pregnant
him) (gulp) Sounds serious!

a truly universal phrase.

Whenever a person says something bad happened, but other than that, it was OK, my usual comment is, "But other than that, how did you like the play, Mrs. Lincoln?"
