YES!!! My boss volunteers me for all kinds of things that are not in my job description, like:
"Oh yes, Krissy will translate this quote for you" or "She'll come down this afternoon to see you"
Argh!! nooo!! I'm an Estate Agent, not a translator and I DON'T work afternoons or weekends, even though I usually end up working anyway...
It really bugs me... He also volunteers me to look after his spoiled daughter - I have a son the same age - they are a nightmare when they are together, and they don't even get on well!
I can't say no - coz he's my boss, and that pays the bills!!
;-)

No people no longer :"volunteer" me for things. When they would do that, I would contact the people that they volunteered me to help and apologize for the incorrect information that they were given, and make sure that they know that I was not a party to the "Volunteering", that I was not aware or did I conscent to me being volunteered to do whatever it was that I was volunteered to do.
After these people who are volunteering me are embarassed enough(and usually have the nerve to get mad that I did not feel obligated to do what they volunteered me to do) they quit doing it.

Lots of times. Especially it occurs when he/she wants something so eagerly from you that it is no time for thinking.
When it happens, make sure what they really need and make communication with them on that demand. Tell them it has been an incorrect way to get to the point.

At work, yes.
At home, that used to happen. I stood up for myself a few times though and that no longer happened.

Yes, all the time. It gets pretty annoying. But then I just go ahead and give my helping hand. It's good to give to others sometimes, even if it wasn't your own idea.

Dude .. my mom does that all the time. Or she will say "let's" do something and I always end up doing whatever it is by myself.
