Dec 1st, 2005 I was in an accident. I went to a chiropractor up through August when they told me my treatment was done, and essentially I was recovered. My neck and back still hurts when I sit, lay, stand, work out: too much or too long. I'm also prone to headaches, a problem I never had before. I want to settle SOON, but I still have problems... is it too late to go back to a doctor for an exam or something? Or... is the pain typical even after treatment?

Your chiropractor could only give you therapy as long as the insurance held out. Mine wanted to keep seeing me to make sure any pain was gone before releasing me and we had to work out a payment plan. I suggest that you sue the other insurance company for money to be able to continue your therapy sessions. You do not have to be greedy, but you do have to be persistent in getting completely well and that means not signing off until you do feel yourself again. Remember that insurance companies want to settle quickly and with the least amount of money exchanged. I think you want to be healthy not rich..so..keep strong and fight for your pain-free life.

You should have been seen by, and received treatment from a medical doctor and not a chiropractor. Personal Injury lawyers are famous for sending patients to chiropractors to help create a claim, but they don't hold half the weight, or collect half the money of a patient who is seen by a orthopedic doctor, or treated at a pain management facility.

No! It's never too late. Go see an orthopedist. You've already tried the chiropractor and that hasn't helped. What have you got to lose?

No more thing. Be very aware that the insurance company that will pay the claim knows you (and everyone else who's ever filed a claim is anxious). It's one of the things they use to reduced the amount they'll pay you. Lawyers know this also. Yes, even yours. Often, although they ACT like they are on your side, it is the insurance companies that pay them. Who do you like better? The person that makes you work, or the person that pays you? Neither of them are interested in how you feel, or how much better you'll get. See who you need to to help you recover as much as you can. It isn't unusual for injury cases to go on for more than 2 years. Also, don't be afraid to consult with a different attorney, if you feel your current one is pressuring you to settle. Most consultations are free, and you might get a new perspective on your case.

IAINTELLEN is absolutely right see an orthopiedic specialist.
Tell them what happened what youve tried get an MRI (magnetic image of problem areas) they are painless ..long and boring but painless.
This can tell the Dr if anything serious is wrong.
If it turns out nothing major is going on.. something you may want to ask your Dr about is Manipulation under anasthesia.

I was hit by a drunk driver several years ago had backaches and headaches.. couldnt move my head these procedures changed my life ive had 2 of them so far one on my cervical spine and one on my lumbar spine. They put you under do thier thing and I was able to move when I woke up with minimal pain. AND NO CUTTING. Tons of PT after but it was worth it. Im still dealing with other issues related to this accident but I was greatful for seaking out a specialist.

Anyway sorry for the personel info....Make sure your DR listens to you. If one Dr wont then see a different one it took 7 Dr's to get one to finally realize I wasnt after a settlement but was actually in pain. So hold out for that money take it slow find a Orthopedic Doc you trust that listens.
Good Luck I hope this all works out for you.

Keep on being treated for your pain. Do not accept any settlement until you've consulted an attorney. If the settlement you have been offered is one offered without you consulting an attorney, then you're probably going to receive much less than what an attorney can get for you. Also, your injuries could have implications much further in your future that may impact your employment and quality of life. GET A LAWYER!

Go back to your Dr and have them check you out again. Defiantly do not settle until you are ready and know how badly you are hurt and what if anything is permanent.
