It should be taught at home. But if you have gone ANYWHERE in America you know that it is not being taught in all homes.

And it needs to be. Personally, due to the lack of parenting from "parents", I think there are many things that need to be taught in school that are not. Manners, anger management, conflict resolution, work habits, how to find & keep a job, savings, living within your means, how to keep your credit rating sterling, etc. etc.

My tax money already pays for the kids to be in school. From experience, the schools churn out thousands of lazy, rude kids that do not have a clue how to behave in adult society, let alone how to keep a job and make a boss happy. So why not?

It's funny, 50 years ago, everyone made sure your children were good citizens. From teachers to the grocer, to the mailman. And now? Everyone is afraid of the parents wrath if they even suggest the child is less than polite.

We are raising selfish, RUDE, drains on society. Someone needs to take charge of at least telling them that their behavior is not acceptable to most of us.

The children who need it most are the ones least likely to receive it at home therefore it is probably a good Idea.. However if you receive good moral guidance from your parents it can feel that the state is telling you how to live your life and stop you thinking for yourself. Besides those who need it most will probably ignore it. Teaching in moral behaviour is nothing unless its supported by the parents who after all an the child's primary role model

It needs to be taught in both. It also needs not just to be taught but it needs to be shown through the actions of other citizens.

Schools try their best but sometimes parents need to implement it further.

Both!

There isn't nearly enough emphasis on basic living skills or morals!
