As I live in England I would like to see this happen ,we English are being denied an identity because we have to call ourselves British. The Scots want to go it alone anyway so as most Scots seem to want to break the union and now more and more English do then I think it's a good idea. However I am talking from an English point of view ,wether the people in Wales and NI want the same I don't know ,But I will only vote for it if we are truly liberated from the other 3 nations and not left to look after N I or Wales .If they stay in the union then we all stay in the union .

I thought this had already happened... Christian and Muslim

The division of the UK into Scotland, Wales, England, Northern Ireland has already occurred to some extent. The problem is that, like so many things we seem to do in this country, it's half finished, half-@ssed and muddled.

To give just one example: England has no influence over certain aspects of Scottish legislation yet Scottish MPs are permitted to vote on laws which only affect England and Wales.

I don't really mind whether we are one country or four but lets be either fully united or fully separate.

You mean England? A goverment is made up of elected representatives for the collective, they are there to create united a collective view or desire, in values and principles. Their strength is in that unity, division will weaken that, and will so create conflict, as the values and principle will be shaped differently by the values of the specific nation. This may cause chaos, when the basic blue print that was agreed on is discarded. The blue print is the values and prinples agreed on orginally. The divison will throw out the orginal blue print leaving a vulnerable England.

Yes, this has already happened to a certain extent with scottish, welsh and NI parliments.

Why stop here? Yorkshire is almost a separate state already with bad blood against Lancashire ("war of the roses"), as well as Cornwall, Rutland, Isle of Man, the channel islands, Falkland Isles (or Malvinas!).... John Prescott also wasted a lot of money with the North East (England) regional assembly.

The Brits are supposed to have invented the "divide and rule" tactics, but the US seems to be much better at it lately.

Can I have 10 points please?

Northern Ireland should be given I mean look how long that has been going on but i think england/scotland/wales should still be one nation after all it's one big island and i think there's already enough confusion in the world without adding to it

If Scotland broke removed from the united kingdom, Scotland could become between the richest international locations in Europe. as a results of fact the sales from North Sea oil could bypass the newly-created Scottish Exchequer's treasury. undemanding as that, and that may not counting the multi-million greenback sales from the sales of Scotch whisky!

Are they not? I mean is Scotland not its own country? And Wales? They can stay as they are, in my opinion. Although A free and united Ireland would be nice. Someone should report you for being a hardass.

Yes it should, England, Wales, Scotland, NI, and London. London should declare independence from the rest of the UK as it produces the highest percentage of wealth.

i live in scotland, born and bred. People (mainly english) harp on about anti - english feeling in scotland, people like "pop" and his comments are the root cause behind this. If he made that sort of comment about a "minority" group he would be a racist, as far as i am concerned he is just ignorant, but , yes scotland would love to be and should be independant (see latest mori/snp figures), scotland has a wealth of natural resources being bled from her by westminster.
