this question is asked literally dozens of times every day. the only ones who believe it's not genetic and a "choice" are the bigots. are you straight? when did you "choose" to be straight? or were you born that way? they'll agree they were born straight, but say that we weren't. with all the hate still rampant in the world, would we "choose" to be someone that's still hated and harassed by ignorant bigots? No! of course not. I know that I've always been attracted to women, never to men. that's nothing I chose nor that I can change. and I'm quite happy with my partner, and our family and friends all accept us.

Ok I'm straight but i believe its not a choice. A lot of animals are gay too, why would they choose? Its nature way of keeping numbers down!
Plus having seen many people struggle with their sexuality I cant see how it was a choice

I was created this way!
...over 50 years old and have never slept with a man... I used to think it was a phase that I would grow out of.. still waiting to "grow out of it"
Been partnered for 10 years.. it was not a choice.

I am not gay but I have several friends who are gay or lesbian. From my talks with them and from what I know about nature I whole heartily believe that you are born either gay or straight. It is normal to develop crushes when you are in elementary and middle school. My friends who are gay talk about having crushes on same sex teachers. This is before they really knew about sex or about being gay. Many of these people fought their feelings. Some even married and raised families but were never really happy until they were honest with themselves and their families about their sexuality. So I guess to answer your questions yes to both. I also want to point our that homosexuality is seen in nature with animals other than human. Even primates who are most closely related to humans have shown homosexual behaviors. Typically it is seen in young males and non-dominant males. This shows me that it is a normal, genetic part of life.

Sigh, for the millionth time, Yes, I was "born that way".
Yes, we are free to make choices, but there are many things that are beyond your choice. Orientation would be one of those things.
Next.

Born that way. It is the same as your natural urge to eat.....what your brain finds attractive to you is not under your control at all.
The only choice you have is to act upon it or not. Who does not want to act upon their sex urges!

I think that it is a choice to have sex with anyone of any gender
I don't think that it is born into the wrong body in as much as it is born with more x chromosomes or y chromosomes then the dominate gender requires
