I don't mind Thanksgiving, but I find the commercialism of Christmas annoying. Most of my family is dead or many miles away so for me Christmas is much different than for those with families. I find the practice of closing down movie theaters, libraries, gyms on Christmas Day repulsive. What's worse is even many restaurants are closed. Not everyone has an extended family.

you are so industrious.(if you are a student i think you must get the best grade. and if you are a clerk then your boss is lucky. )
but don't you consider that both suitable physical and spirit relaxation are absolutely necessarily (in order to be more energetic when you return to work).
you can arrange your holiday to be a significant, cheerful one.(e.g. inviting some friends (or your family) to go out for a picnic , watch a great movie, or visit your elder-ship .........) if you make use of your holiday sufficiently , you will not find it annoying?
Don't you think so?

I am the original scrooge when it comes to Christmas holiday except for this year. Husband has Alzheimer and I know he will not remember this Christmas but he loved the holidays , so for him I am decorating the house to the max and with every shiny red ball I hang I am thinking this is not for me but for the ones who will enjoy it. Mostly for my darling. So this holiday will not be annoying.

The only thing I find annoying about them is how people go crazy because of gifts. People spend so much time and money buying gifts which are later returned while others are left broke!

Well, "the holidays" span across enough time that they can get annoying from time to time, but for the most part I enjoy them. The cool weather and the camraderie and the gift giving and such are nice.

I hate that the Christmas decorations are out months too soon, and as soon as they've put those away at the start of January the Easter eggs are coming out!

Yes I do not celebrate them so I have to tolerate every ones mean/happy attitudes...every year my life is put on hold because some mother wants to complain about why she can't get the latest Elmo doll for her little brat. Do these parents no realize that the kid is just going to puke on it?

They used to be something I looked forward to but now they are just a time when I get stressed out the most.
