Depends on what type of flare gun. If it is one similar to the 12 gauge type find at Wal-Mart, then most likely it wouldn't kill you but it would disfigure you. If it is more similar to the standard marine flare gun which fires a much heavier flare, start making funeral arrangements.

Since the FIRE part of a flare does not activate immediatly the damage would depend on the impact location at "point blank range". Obviously the outcome would be less than pleasent.
