Sweetie, I wear the smokey look all the time and I love doing it for myself and others. I learned from watching, reading, and experimenting. You first want to make sure your eyes are primed for it. Your eyebrows are neat and fixed and you have applied a few specks of loose powder under your eye to catch the eyeshadow that will fall. You don't want black eyeshadow or any dark color settling onto your makeup on your face. Doing this helps to catch it. Now the steps:
1) Apply a neutral color eyeshadow at your browbone or over your entire eyelid. Sometimes I apply color from a white pencil exactly right underneath my eyebrow to really define the neutral color, but you don't have to.
2) Apply a brownish color from the crease of your eye down to the lash line and blend.
3) Apply the darkest black at the lash line and blend.
**** Remember, you have to blend, blend, blend because one thing you don't want is for everyone to see is where your eyeshadows begin.
4) Line your eyelids with black eye pencil.
5) Define your eyelashes with at least two coats of mascara. I personally do three because I have long eyelashes and I like for them to stand out.
6) After you are sure that everything's blended well and you've done all the prior steps, take your powder brush and whisk away the loose powder that you had underneath your eyes. And follow with a neutral lip color of your choice (any color would do, but if you're wearing a smokey eye you want people to notice your eyes, not your eyes and lips).
***** Just make sure to remember you want your lips a subtle neutral color. Don't be discouraged if you don't get it just so the first time. It takes practice. Good luck.....

First apply an all over shade that will compliment your skin tone, with the smokey eye lighter shades look good. Using a dark shade like dark Grey, plum, or brown apply to the crease of your eye. If you have problems finding exactly where it at, look down a bit and where you see a shadow above your lid that's where it at. Apply to lid and a bit under the outer corner, then smudge some eyeliner to make it pop. If you only get the corner of your eye with the eyeliner and bring it to the middle, it'll look better. Then finish it up with mascara. Have fun!

It depends on how smokey and what products you use. If you are using an eyeliner pencil, place dots along the lower eyelid, then use a cotton bud to lightly feather out the dots. Alternatively, If you're using powder shadow, place the shadow on the eye rim using your ring finger and gently fan the colour outwards until you achieve the desired effect. If the shadow starts to look a bit panda, use eye make up remover on the end of a tissue wrapped around your finger to soak up any excess stray powder.
I think cream shadow or eye liner pencils works best by fanning the colour, then using a neutral powder to set the colour. Personally, I never used to set the colour and it looked great all night.

First of all you need at least three different shapes to achieve this look, i would recommend a dark grey, medium grey and a metallic light grey or white eye shadow.
You will also need a grey eyeliner and black mascara.
The tip is not to over load your brush on each application.
Like any colouring in, you add the lightest colour on first , this would be the metallic white. This is applied in one fine line, closest to your lid. Then add the next, medium grey colour fine lined above the white. Finally within the socket area add the dark grey colour. With a clean application sponge, sweep and blend all gently down.
To finish look at final, touches like the eyeliner and 2-3 coats of mascara.

You may do this already, but if not try putting concealor on before applying eyeshadow. Not only does it make your eyes stand out more, but if you're not so great at applying a certain look, getting the unwanted makeup to come off is much easier (without the hassles of using makeup remover and running your makeup all over your face).

You might be using the wrong colour..most people try black, but seldom can pull it off. Try a Taupey brown,Olive,eggplant...etc depending on your natural colouring. Apply highlighter in the inner corners and over the brow bone, Line upper and lower lashlines, sweep a neutral or shimmering colour over the lid, then apply your preferred smoking colour over your eyeliner and work outward gently until desired level is acheived.
Hope this helps!

I have two sets of colours for this, metallic dark grey and green/olive. I use a liquid liner first, only on the top lid then a similar coloured shadow, fairly dark. Then lots of mascara.

Starting with the lids, simply use a dark shade of eyeshadow, applying it as thick as you think is necesary. Smudging it only to the edge of your lids, to ensure it doesnt make you look like you have a black eye. Finish off with a extra-thick coat of eyeliner and mascara.
{dont apply mascara and eyeliner first} IMPORTANT!

the best way i have found is to put the dark colour on first then the lighter one, makes it easier to work with. as you would end up putting to much dark shade on without realising it until its to late... !!!! try it you Will have such a better look to for smudging it up a Little too....
good luck !!! but give it a go
