The Gamecube has more quality games that are suitable for children and adults. The gamecube is made to be a console for all the family.
The PS2 also has games that are suitable for children but they arent as good as the gamecubes. The PS2 has alot more adult games, sports games (which are for everyone) etc
The X-box doesnt really have many games that are sutiable for childeren except the sports games on it.

The pink playstation 2 is perfect for younger girls. There's a deal in Woolworths that comes with a singing game, two pink microphones, a pink memory card and pink carry case for £129.99. My daughter also loves her pink Nintendo ds with the dog game. She plays on that for hours. You can pick those up in the shops for around £100 with the game. The playstation has more games than the nintendo ds tho. The junior buzz game is also really good with the ps2. Have a look around the main shops cos they all have deals on the consoles and you should pick up a great bargain!! Woolworths have an online store now, as do Argos.

Any console is suitable, as long as you make sure she's not getting games that are too old for her.

Gamecube has the most child-aimed games though, followed by PS2 and then XBox. The Wii, which comes out soon is aimed towards anybody too.

I love the Gamecube for kids. There are many lighthearted and fun titles for the GC. The game cube is cheap.

BUT the PS2 is a great unit too, because it plays DVDs, the game cases are easier to replace when they are lost, trashed, or broken (same size as regular DVDs) and the PS2 travels well because of its slim design. My kids play PS2 in the car when we take long trips to visit the grandparents. When my kids are rotten and lose their privedges, the PS2 is easier to hide from them.
My daughter really enjoys the Harvest Moon games in particular.

My son has a Nintendo DS, hand held console, which is great, because it also plays Gamboy games, so when theres offers on games you have a wider choice and sometimes better prices! Being handheld, its good for travelling with too. They cost between 90 and120 pounds, depending which package you buy.

Nintendo's N64.

Cartridge based, she can never ruin the games. And no loading times, boot up times to speak of, so you can play straight away.

Being Nintendo, there are many titles for her age-group, and not too many adult-based games for her young eyes.

Cheap as they have been out years, so games are cheap too.

Very playable. I still have mine for WaveRace...

Powerful, so good graphics and sound.

Durable, she can throw / drop it etc, and no CD mechanism to damage / destroy.

Very small form factor, it can tidy away easily, pads n all into a space under the telly...

Have fun....

I would recommend the nintendo Wii, it is cheaper than the others on the market and has some great games for younger kids.
