50-gallon tank, three turtles. I've had a ridiculously old filter whose brand name I know not for a while, and it finally conked. Any recommendations?

1. Underwater filters are not usually recommended with turtles.

2. Try this article for ideas on filtration: http://www.austinsturtlepage.com/Articles/filtration.htm

3. A 50 gallon tank is a bit small for three turtles. The rule of thumb is at least 10 gallons of water per inch of turtle. At 2" each, you'd need 60 gallons already- or a 1/2 filled 120 gallon tank. Most of us use plastic tubs or kiddie pools to accomodate the space needs.

the interior the tank type filters do no longer clean plenty, and that they are extremely for pushing the water around the tank. Turtles are a extreme mess doggy, and cheaping out on an astounding clean out isn't a stable thought. i could propose looking into getting an astounding canister clean out. i extremely like the FLUVAL FX5 form. it extremely is able to filtering 4 hundred gallons. I extremely have one and it does an astounding activity on my one hundred twenty five gallon tank.

canister filters are the best just get one that will pump more than your tank holds because turtles are so messy......and you should look into a new tank with a little more room
