Any department store will have some nice separates that are dressy, JC Penney, Macy's, etc... If you don't think you would wear the top again, you might also want to check out the discount stores to save yourself some money, Target, Marshalls, TJ Maxx, Ross, or whatever you have close to you. Also try Nordstrom, Dillards, Hennes & Mauritz (H&M), to name a few, or even eBay.
I don't know what you like, so I don't have a clue about what to suggest. Maybe shop around your local stores instead of the almost unlimited number of internet ones. You would be able to narrow down your choices easier, and wouldn't have such an overload of selections.

i've just finished looking at the fall jcpenney catalog, and they have some nice separates in there at a reasonable price. if not there macy's has a shopping assistant, you set an appointment with and you tell them what you need and they'll give you several choices. can't loose, its like have a clothing stylist. there no charge for this sevice hope it works out and have fun at the parties

check out debenhams, or TU at Sainsbury's, they have some surprisingly nice things.
Whistles, principles, Warehouse and Oasis are also usually great for party clothes.
