I am from the Philippines and between the two, I would have to say China. Many Chinese people live in the Philippines and most of them have businesses here and their children grew up here and study here too. Our cuisine is also greatly influenced by Chinese way of cooking. Plus, there are more Chinese people living here than Japanese.

china has influenced the philippines in a lot of way from the food, to some customs and traditions since most of them have settled here before the spanish came. the japanese were here during world war 2 and are now compensating us for the war crimes that they have done.

China. The country has a long and tightly interwoven relationship at ALL levels of its society (sociological and economic) to the Chinese that goes back many centuries. Japan interacts only at the business and government levels with the Filipinos.

USA has the most influenced. And China is peaking up because of the many and cheap products they traded into the Philippines.

the spaniards has the most influence to the Philippines... from the language they speak to the traditions and beliefs, from the mentality to their behavior... I dont think china and japan has that impact to the philippines... there may be some but i think the most recognizable ones are that from spaniards.

i agree with andrew e. here. spain still remains in the philippines after their 3 centuries rule. but since you limit your question between china and japan, i would say its china. chinese people were here before the spaniards came. some traded some settled and intermarried with the natives. today, you will see more taipans than yakuzas in the philippines.

china, they introduced the corrupt ways in governing the system, they are the one introduced as the lagay system. thanks to the chinese for the influence on us.
