Usually I answer freely, but several times a question strikes me as 'off' in some way, or sounds like it relates to earlier posts, and in those cases, I will track back through previous questions and answers posted by that person.

I am so enjoying this series of answers. Good question!
Personally, I try not to spend too much time on any one question (or answer) because if I let myself get too involved with individuals I end up with no points with which to ask questions! I like the way this system was devised, to even out the question-answer ratio. Even now I keep bouncing back and forth between levels one and two because I'm too detail-oriented. Answering freely is the way to go.

I answer freely, but only ask a question if it hasn't been previously discussed on Yahoo Answers. When you ask a question, it pops up a variety of similar questions that have been asked already. So if it's already been asked, I just read those answers.
I also check out whether the person asking a question actually reads the answers and/or comments on them.
I also view whether the asker chooses best answers for their questions.
And I sometimes read people's answers on varying subjects depending on what mood I'm in.

I only ask a question if it is something that cannot be googled or consulted with another person.
And I always answer a question if I find it interesting to answer or if I can relate to the question within my capacity and it had never mattered to me asto what their previous posts were or which level they are on.

Personally, I just answer without looking up what people's previous questions were.
However, there are occasions that I do notice a whole list of questions by the same person on the same page of questions (like yours!) though I don't deliberately search for them.

If the question seems a bit cryptic but interests me then I check to see what else the asker has asked.
I don't want to look a complete prat thinking it is serious if it is a joke !
Ditto for something that I think is racist or crude. Sometimes people do not express themselves very well, but if they are determined to be Shock Jocks then they can do it without my buttering their ego.

No. I usually answer only questions that I feel I can give an answer to. I don't like giving answers to irrelevant questions and will not answer any question where I have no Knowledge or if I know someone who can help I point the questioner to them
