Did you check for a mint mark? it is on the reverse below the eagle. I will presume it is also in a low grade, due to the fact most Barber Halves show up this way. If in a high grade it is worth some bucks. The 1899 had a mintage of 5,538,846. If you have an 1899 with mint mark, resubmit your question on Email me. If in grade good it is worth $10, and jups up to $28.00 in grade fine. Good-date and legends readable, liberty worn off head band rims can not be worn off.Grade fine-liberty colpletely readable but not sharp. Hope this helps

it depends on what coin it is and if it is in mint condition. You shuld probly research that coin you have on the net. Most likely it would be worth way more if it is a rare coin.

My friend had a 1924 50 cent coin which he sold to an antique shop for $1900.

You cannot really trust stamps and coins dealers.

Find a coin's catalogue, from the library perhaps?

Find your coin and see how much it is worth.
Then go and see a dealer if it is worth your while.

Don't expect to get the price in the catalogue. That's the price the dealer sell it for, and he needs to make a profit. And in most cases, the dealer sell below the catalogue price.

You should be looking at getting between 50% and 70% of the catalogue value.

Yes. For one thing it should be made of pure silver which would make it worth at least 10 times face value. Then, depending on rarity of the coin, it could be worth a lot more. Check completed listings on ebay to find approx. value.

If you give to a antique coin collector, he will give you 2000 dollars. If you give to an antique shop he will give you 1500 dollars. This is a rare coin and you may get even more money.

You'll have to take it to a coin collector for appraisal. This website gives some values to older coins. http://www.govmint.com/default.asp?taborder=§ionpath=176&editmode=admin&backto=178&action=productsearch&processor=asp&asp_processor=product&sq_sectionid=58&sq_keyword=barber+half&sq_searchheader=Barber%20Type%201892-1915
