You can not measure progress by the level of wealth attained, or the amount of prowess acquired, but by the level of peace attained. If you have our good old America in mind, you are mistaken. Because:
1. America is not a country.
2. America is not at peace. Think of all the bombings.
3. America is not realy wealthy because we are not industrious.

So you can not coclusively point out a progressive country because, the world as a whole is riddled with war, rebellion, polical unpasse, huricane, and other ecological dissasters.

Some countries in Europe. I would say the western countries. The 8 richest countries in the world. Japan, Britain, USA, Germany, France etc.

Japan? My boyfriend read an article that said their government refuses immigrants who are coming into the country to provide cheap labor. They say it weakens the country and takes away the drive to improve their products. Sounds like what happened in the US. That sounds pretty smart to me, don't know if that is progressive.
