I think it is to balance masculine and feminine energies, which is hard in a same sex relationship...

You guys are kidding me that you do not see this correlation, being so politically correct you have to put on rose colored glasses....I am straight but go out to gay clubs and parties just because they are more interesting, and there are always straight people there doing the same thing. Nearly every couple has a top and bottom or aggressor and submissive role player....

Karina, (this is a sterotype that is not always held true, since I do not look fem and not act fem, I play football and enjoy it, I get flirted with girls, and etc.... but at the end of the day I am gay and yes, the best way to tell it about me, just look at the gay necklace I wear, the only way, it is a symbol so I wil not confuse people such as yourself, into thinking I might be straight)

Lesbos? LOL, r u stuck in the 80's? First of all, you are steroetyping really bad here, and if you had even ONE clue as to the gay scene or lifestyle, which you obviously dont, you would understand that there are many femme lesbians and many manly gay men. Yes, there are also many butch lesbians and many girly men. We are an eclectic group of people, which is what makes us better than you breeders. Haha! LOSER!

Some people choose to fit into those stereotypes, but not everyone fits into them.

I'm a lesbian but I wear feminine clothes (even make-up) and act 'straight' (by that I mean I don't tell everyone I meet that I'm a lesbian and tend to keep it to myself). I also have male friends who are gay and behave 'masculine', and most of the time you wouldn't pick them to be gay.

You also need to look at other people who are straight yet act feminine or butch, but aren't homosexual. Today's styles and behaviours are so random that anyone could be straight or gay and you wouldn't know until you've asked them.

You don't spend much time around them, do you? As a cab driver, you observations are off base and ill informed. Overall, you would not know when you are standing right next to one. Yes, there are the extreme personalities, as there are in any segment of the population, but they are no common.

Last year some local women beat up a couple of women who were walking along the street while holding hands, thinking they were gay.

nicely, it has not something to do with hormones, that idea has been clinically tried, besides the undeniable fact that the further testosterone they gave the adult adult males, the further sex they needed - gay sex. It had no effect on their orientation. That reported, i imagine those girly queans have purely grown up understanding they're gay and swallowing the heteros' idea that in a roundabout way being gay potential being female. The heteros locate no reason to ask such questions about their sexuality - they conform, no count number the position they stand contained in the Kinsey Scale. the shown truth that Plato said issues otherwise is unknown to maximum heteros for a similar reason.

That's called stereotyping. You clearly have no idea how diverse GLBTs are in their personalities and behaviour.

Some gay men do act feminine - but those that don't you probably wouldn't know that they were gay - unless they told you.

Ditto for Lesbians.

Now, once you grow up out of adolescence, I hope you find your niche in the rich sexual tapestry.

I take offence but I don't fit in to the catogories, so don't make such stupid statements. Firstly, there are effeminate guys that are not gay, and butch girls that are not lesbian (tom boys). I am Gay but "straight-acting" so there is your thory shot to ****.

you obviously don't know many gays or lesbians or you'd know that that is a stereotype, and most of us don't fit into those categories. most of us you wouldn't know by how we "look" as to what our orientation is. and I've met straight women who were really butch, and straight guys who weren't.
